FINDER OF THINGS LOST

"A YOUNG DEPARTMENT STORE NIGHT WATCHMAN REALIZES HIS DREAM OF BECOMING A PRIVATE DETECTIVE, ONLY TO FIND HIMSELF A PAWN IN THE HUNT FOR A MOVING TARGET ..."

AVAILABLE NOVEMBER 2026!

Twenty four year-old John ‘Jack’ Hammer spends summer nights in 1948 keeping watch over four floors of department store mannequins while scouring newspaper Personals for missing dogs, missing jewelry, and anything else missing—as long as the job involves a decent reward. He spends his days waiting for the telephone to ring in a two-room office rented just for this new side-business venture: Jack Hammer Investigations. So, when an attractive young woman knocks on his door and asks him to find her missing brother, he jumps at the chance, putting his current search for a stray Cocker Spaniel on the back burner. But then she drops out of sight too, leaving Jack puzzled with an uncooperative witness, a cryptic torn map, five dead bodies, and two remaining days of unspent retainer that he couldn’t give back now even if he tried.
